LEED Contribution
We here at HIGH-R have recognized the importance of sustainable building, which is why we are proud to offer a insulation system with LEED contribution capabilities.
The HIGH-R® insulation system may contribute to LEED in the following ways:
- The HIGH-R insulation system offers unsurpassed performance regarding r-value, which is the resistance to the transfer of energy. The energy efficiency of HIGH-R will directly affect the building performance for the Energy and Atmosphere prerequisite 2.
- The Materials and Resources section has a credit for Building Reuse of 50% on non-structural materials. Incorporating HIGH-R into a project can allow the existing insulation to be reused. This fact also coordinates with the Material and Resource credit for diverting construction waste from the landfill. The existing insulation can avoid being put in the dumpster.
- Material and Resources also has a credit for Regional Materials that are extracted, processed and manufactured within 500 miles of the project site. The section for Environmental Quality addresses Thermal Comfort design and verification. HIGH-R directly contributes to this with the r-values achieved.
Summary:
- EAp2 Energy and Atmosphere Minimum Energy Performance
- MRc1.3 Building Reuse Maintain 50% of Interior Non-Structural Elements
- MRc2.2 Construction Waste Management Divert 50% from Disposal
- MRc5.1 Regional Materials 10% Extracted, Processed and Manufactured Regionally
- EQc7.1 Thermal Comfort Design HVAC as per ASHRAE Standard 55-2004
- EQc7.2 Thermal Comfort Verification Implement a comfort survey and agree to plan for corrective action if 20% of occupants are dissatisfied with thermal comfort levels in the building
